The Pursuit of Happiness
is a pc game about the attainment of lasting peace and happiness.
It's structure is based on the Buddhist Four Noble Truths - The Reality of Suffering, The Cause of Suffering, The End of Suffering, and The Way towards Enlightenment and Nirvana (The Eight Fold Path).
There are two pathways within the game: A spiritual development path that leads towards Nirvana, and a worldly path of material pleasures and games that leads towards Oblivion.
The Nirvana path uses an award winning QTVR interface to deal with the spiritual search for inner peace and happiness, and it contains information from various philosophies, religions, cultures and sciences. The Oblivion path is made up of games based on the pleasures of the flesh, and it is about the experience of life. You can change paths at any time.
There is a Nirvana/Oblivion Gauge which indicates your progress towards both places and if you play too many of the games on the Oblivion path, the gauge will indicate that Oblivion is fast approaching. One game too many will send you there.
The alternative is to continue on the spiritual path towards Nirvana without playing any more of the material world games which you know are there to be played.
